
HISTORY: Texas Champions Federal Credit Union was chartered February 21, 1938 as
Champion Employees Federal Credit Union with ten members. The original field of
membership was the Houston Division of Champion Paper and Fiber Company in Pasadena,
Texas. For years, the credit union has served its members with competitive services
and loans. In May of 2003, the credit union changed its name to Texas Champions
Federal Credit Union.
The field of membership includes: employees of International
Paper (formerly Champion International Paper) who work in the State of Texas;
employees of Nationwide Papers, a subsidiary of International Paper (formerly Champion
International Paper), who work in or are supervised from Arlington, El Paso, Houston or
San Antonio, Texas; and employees of Pasadena Paper Company, who work in Pasadena
Texas. In June of 2004, persons who live, work, attend school, or worship
in the cities of Galena Park, Channelview, Jacinto City, Pasadena, and South Houston are
eligible to join!! Spouse and immediate family members of primary members are
eligible to join!
WHO CAN JOIN? Any employee of any sponsoring company listed in the field of
membership. Immediate family members (spouse, son, daughter, mother, father,
sister, brother, grandparents, grandchildren, step relations, and adoptive relations) of a
member is eligible. Persons who live, work, attend school, or worship in
the cities of Galena Park, Channelview, Jacinto City, Pasadena, and South Houston are
eligible to join!!
REMEMBER! Family members can join the credit union. Once they sign
up, their account opens the services of the credit union to them! They become a part
of the credit union family tree! Check our SERVICES page to see what is
available. And we're adding new services all the time!
HOW TO JOIN: Call to verify that you are in the field of membership. Come
by and fill out an account agreement and deposit at least $25.00 plus the $1.00 membership
fee. You will need to bring your driver's license and social security card.
HOW SAFE IS MY MONEY? Your account is insured at least up to $250,000 by the National
Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U.S. government agency. Individual Retirement
Accounts (IRAs) also are insured up to $250,000.
